Joey Tempest, vocalist from Europe, talked on TotalRock radio in London as a special guest at 16:00 to 16:35 in 2nd July '09 British summer time. Here is the summary in English and Japanese.
ヨーロッパのボーカリスト、ジョーイ・テンペストがイギリス時間の２００９年７月２日１６：００から１６：３５まで、ロンドンの TotalRock というラジオ局の番組にスペシャルゲストとして登場しました。その様子はインターネット・ラジオを通して世界中で聴取できました。日本語と英語で概略を書きます。
The Final Countdown and Last Look at Eden had been played before Joey come up to the studio. The host introduced him as a guy from Europe, the most selling band from Sweden with 2 U. S. top 10 songs and 2 top 20 albums. (I suppose they are The Final Countdown, Carrie and The Final Countdown album and Out of This World album, and the source is Billboard chart.)
ジョーイがスタジオ入りする前に、The Final Countdown と Last Look at Eden が流れて、番組のホストはヨーロッパの事を「スウェーデンのバンドの中で一番売れているバンド。全米トップ１０入りしたシングルが２曲と全米アルバムチャート・トップ２０入りしたアルバムが２枚あります。」と紹介。（シングルは The Final Countdown と Carrie、アルバムは The Final Countdown と Out of This World のことで、Billboard のチャートの事を言っているのだと思います。）
Joey said his wife was a lovely lady. Wow!
Joey said they finally could create good music. It means Last Look at Eden album. He also said the band members are so excited about it.
"Since John Norum rejoin the band we did live and made music in a high tempo. We will do live at 3-day festival in England (Sorry I forgot the name of the place) and another Swedish band will play at the festival too, although the date is different. It's Arch Enemy and Arch Enemy covers Europe song Scream of Anger."

ジョーイは、奥様の事を「ラブリー・レディ」と言いました！「レディ」と言う言葉から、奥様に対して敬意を払っているのが伺えますね。西洋人の男性で奥さんのことを言う時にレディって言う人は少ないと思います。と言うか、殆ど、そうは言わないですよね。奥様はイギリス人で、これはイギリスのラジオ番組だから、特に敬意を表して「レディ」と言ったのかも知れませんが、いずれにせよ、奥様の事を「レディ」というジョーイはジェントルマンです。
ジョーイは、Last Look at Eden アルバムの事を「やっと良い音楽を作る事が出来た。メンバー皆喜んでいる。」と言っています。また、
「ジョン・ノーラムが Europe に再加入してから、早いテンポでライブと曲作りをやって来た。もうすぐ、イギリスで開かれる3日間のフェスティバルに出演する。別な日だけど、アーク・エネミーと言うスウェーデンのバンドもそのフェスティバルに出演する。アーク・エネミーはヨーロッパの Scream of Anger という曲をカバーしている。」と言っています。

The host said Europe would play at a 3-day festival in England as a headliner!
番組のホストによると、ヨーロッパは、その3日連続のフェスティバルでヘッドライナーをつとめるそうです！ ヘッドライナーとは、海外の公演で二組以上のアーティストが出演する時、ポスターやパンフレットにアーティスト名を大きな字で書いてあるアーティストの事です。日本でいう「トリ」に相当します。ただし、日本語のトリと違って、何組ものアーティストが出演するコンサートの場合、ヘッドライナーも複数である事が多く、したがって、ヘッドライナーでも演奏順が一番最後とは限りません。でも、ホストはコヘッドライナーでなくヘッドライナーと言ったから、もしかしたら、ヘッドライナーの中のヘッドライナー、つまり、３日連続フェスティバルの大トリという可能性もあります。だとしたら快挙です！
Joey and the host talked about the band before record debut for a while.
Joey admitted it's true that they were said to cut hair and sing in Swedish when they made first demo tape before debut. He also said "we liked British bands at that time such as Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple. We all loved them since we were kids. We won a band contest and got album recording but 1st and 2nd albums were sold only in Scandinavia and Japan."
デビュー前の話を少ししていました。ジョーイは、デビュー前に最初にデモテープを作った時、レコード会社から髪の毛を切れということとスウェーデン語で歌えということを言われたという話について、本当だと言いました。また、「その頃、僕達は、シン・リジーやレッド・ツェッペリンやディープ・パープルといったイギリスのバンドが好きだった。僕達は、皆、子供の頃からそういうバンドが好きだった。バンドコンテストで優勝してアルバム録音の権利を得た。だけど、1枚目と２枚目のアルバムが発売されたのはスカンジナビアと日本だけだった。」と言っています。
He also said "The Final Countdown was written for live. It's nice to communicate with audience."
ジョーイは、また、「ザ・ファイナル・カウントダウンはライブの為に書いた曲だ。その曲のおかげで聴衆と良いコミュニケーションがとれた。」と言っています。
About Almost Unplugged CD and DVD Joey said "Nalen show with strings quartet was originally for internet broadcasting but resulted in the release of CD and DVD."
Almost Unplugged の CD と DVD について、ジョーイは「ストリング・カルテットと共演した Nalen のショウは、最初はインターネット配信しか考えていなかったけど、結果的に CD と DVD を出す事になった」という意味の事を言っています。
About reunion of the band he said "John Norum and I met when we were 14 or 15. We were just like a family but separated. John played as a solo but when John entered the rehearsal room before the millennium gig something sparked. We reunited when we completed our own contracts."
ヨーロッパの再結成については、「ノーラムと僕が出会ったのは１４、５才の時だ。僕達（多分、バンド全員の事）は一つの家族のようだったけど、離ればなれになってしまった。でも、ミレニアム・ライブの直前にリハーサル・ルームのノーラムが入って来た時に、スパ−ク（火花）がはじけたんだ。だから、個別の契約が終わった時点で再結成したんだ。」と言っています。
"We all met in our teenage days at first time and we all know each other as a person including bad points. (Joey and the host laughed a bit.) We forgive each other. Now I live in London. John Norum lives in Los Angels."
「僕達は、皆、ティーンネージャーの時に出会っていて、悪い所も含めて、お互いの事を良く知っている。（「悪い所も」という所で、ジョーイとホストが少し笑いました。）お互いに許しあっている。僕は今、ロンドンに住んでいる。ノーラムはロス・アンジェルスに住んでいる。」
"We are still trying to be creative maintaining 80s' classic rock melody and modern elements added."
"Our 3rd album since the reunion includes '70s British band feeling and modern elements added, classical melody line and groove. We excited about it, groovy and funny."
U Devil U was played.
「僕達は今でもクリエイティブ（独創的）であるように努めていて、８０年代のクラシック・ロックのメロディーを維持しながらモダンな要素をそれにつけ加えている。」
「再結成後の３枚目のアルバムには、１９７０年代のイギリスのバンドのフィーリングとモダンな要素が入っている。つまり、クラシックなメロディとグルーブ感。僕達は皆、とても喜んでいる。３枚目のアルバムは、グルービーでファニー（「笑える」という意味でなく「変わっている」という意味）なんだ。」
U Devil U が演奏されました。
Joey and the host talked something about the band name "Europe" for a while. Joey said "It could be World." (probably it's a joke.) and the host said "How about Asia?" or something with a slight laugh and Joey answered "No, but they are a good band."
"The band name was Force. I proposed the band name Europe after we had much beer and there was a silence for 2 minutes. I imagined "Tonight ladies and gentlemen we have Europe" and I thought it's nice."
Europe というバンド名についても少し話していました。
「ワールド（世界）でも良かったんだ。（これは、多分、ジョーク。）」
ホストが少し笑いながら「アジア（Asia）はどう？」と言ったら、ジョーイいわく、
「それはダメだよ。でも、Asia の人達はいい人だよ。」（Asia というバンド、ありましたね。）
「バンド名は、Force だったんだ。 皆でビールを呑んだ後で Europe と言うバンド名を提案したんだけど、そうしたら、２分間、沈黙が流れてしまったんだ。僕は『皆様、今晩、ヨーロッパをお迎えしております。』というアナウンスを想像して、なかなか良いなぁと思ったんだ。」
About making of the official video of Last Look at Eden Joey said "It was shot before a big green screen and I was flying." (Probably Joey was hung with piano wires just like actors in Chinese action movies such as Hero.)
He also said total view of Last Look at Eden on Europe's official MySpace page reached 50,000 in 3 weeks and the host said "Wow!" (More than 100 among them was viewed by me. lol)
Last Look at Eden のオフィシャルビデオの撮影について、ジョーイは「大きな緑色のスクリーンの前で撮影したんだ。僕は宙を飛んでいたんだよ。」と言っています。（多分、ヒーローなどの中国製アクション映画のようにピアノ線でつり上げられていたのだと思います。）
それから、Last Look at Eden のヨーロッパの MySpace 公式ページの再生回数が３週間で５万回に達したと言っていました。ホストもワーオ！と言って驚いていました。（そのうち100回以上は私です。笑。）
They also talked about mini album which is scheduled to be released in 10 August. Last Look at Eden, U Devil U and Since I've been Loving You which is live performance at Nalen show and other 2 live tracks shall be on this disk. Original of I've been Loving You is the same title song of Led Zeppellin. （Amazon UK and some other shopping sites are receiving preorder of this mini album.)
Joey left the studio and the host said the release date of Last Look at Eden album in England was 12 September.
８月１０日にリリース予定のミニアルバムについても話していました。そのミニアルバムには、Last Look at Eden, U Devil U の他、Nalen のライブ時の Since I've been Loving You (レッド・ツェッペリンのカバー）など３曲のライブ曲が収録されるそうです。（このミニアルバムについては、既に同様の内容が一部で報道されていて、イギリスのアマゾンなどでは、既に予約を受け付けています。）
ジョーイがスタジオを去った後で、ホストが、Last Look at Eden アルバムのイギリスでの発売日を９月１２日だと言っていました。
